Ed Antoine
Founder & Owner
While a sophomore studying Aeronautical Engineering at Princeton University, Ed started teaching SAT prep classes as an escape from low paid work study jobs. But what started as a practical convenience, developed into an enduring love of test prep and the joy of working with students.
Philosophy
Ed see his main roles as helping students see what they are capable of. He assumes, and 30 years later still believes, that every student is bright, logical and capable of understanding middle and high school level academic work and standarized tests.
If something has them stumped or confused, it's just a misunderstanding that needs to be identified and corrected; and he invites students to join him in the inquiry as to what that might be. What's most exciting is when they find it, and the student realizes that there was never much wrong and now nothing standing in their way!
Jiho Kang
Senior Instrutor
Jiho graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Applied Mathematics. He has worked as a data analyst in private industry and at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Since 2017 he has worked as a tutor for standardized test preparation (SAT and ACT) and academic subjects (mathematics, study skills and science). He likes to help students learn challenging topics and feel more at ease with math. When not tutoring, Jiho enjoys acting and singing.
Danielle Twiss
Senior Instructor
Danielle graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics in 2021. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at the New School. She is an experienced tutor with a great love for teaching and the excitement that comes from working with students. Danielle has taught SHSAT, SAT and AP Calculus for us since January of 2023.
Jonah Dratfield
Senior Instructor
Jonah is an educator, writer, and musician from Western Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in English and more recently, in 2026, completed a Master's degree in Psychological Research at Brooklyn College. Jonah has worked as a tutor for the past 7 years, and taught SHSAT prep at AE since February 2023. His educational philosophy emphasizes curiosity, depth of understanding, and the practical application of academic skills. When not teaching, he can be found writing articles, composing music, and playing jazz and folk guitar.
Joshua Anyasi
Instructor
Josh graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology and Political Science. He continued his education at Pace University, where he completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration. For the past 2 years Josh has taught middle school math in NYC public schools.
Edwin Cruz-Garcia
Instructor
Edwin received his BA in Neuroscience from Amherst College. He has taught Middle School-High School STEM subjects NYC for the past 3 years. Edwin has a strong focus on the process of learning. His primary goal as an educator is helping students think about the most effective learning strategies that they can make their own. When not working with students, Edwin is part of a men's chorus based in Manhattan, enjoys board games and loves to get out of the city to hike.
Isabella Tramposch
Instructor
Isabella graduated from Bard College with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She has tutored the SAT, ACT, and various levels of math and chemistry for the last five years. She is passionate about helping her students achieve their academic goals. Outside of tutoring, Isabella enjoys playing soccer, listening to jazz and playing card games.
Ravon Smith
Instructor
Ravon earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Delta State University. She has nearly a decade of experience teaching science in New York City schools, including AP Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Living Environment, and Earth Science.
Most recently, Ravon taught AP Biology at York Preparatory School, where 80% of her students earned scores of 4 or 5 on the AP Biology exam. She has also prepared students for New York State Regents examinations, helping them master challenging scientific concepts while developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed on high-stakes tests.
Outside the classroom, Ravon enjoys exploring the frontiers of neuroscience. She recently participated in the Summer Research Program for Science Teachers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she conducted research on the role of dopamine in learning and memory.
K. Eskins
Instructor
K. earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Psychology from New College of Florida and a Master's degree in Philosophy and Psychoanalysis from The New School for Social Research.
K. has extensive experience preparing students for the SHSAT, SAT, ACT, and New York State Regents examinations through both classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring.
Outside the classroom, K.'s interests include philosophy, psychology, and the ways people learn and grow.
Maisie Newbury
Instructor
Maisie graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a BA in Political Science and Literary Arts. She has three years of classroom experience in New York City schools and earned a Master's of Arts in Teaching Childhood from Relay Graduate School of Education. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in School and Clinical Psychology at Brooklyn College.
As a teacher and tutor, Maisie strives to challenge and encourage her students through ambitious but achievable goals. She helps students not only solve problems, but develop efficient strategies for test day.
Outside the classroom, Maisie enjoys running, hiking, and cooking for friends and family.
